Underwater treadmill therapy has been proven to be beneficial for a wide variety of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, as well as strength, endurance conditioning and weight loss. This modality utilizes the physical properties of water to improve range of motion, strengthen muscles and increase endurance while decreasing the risk of future injury. If your furry friend is recovering from surgery, in need of weight loss or suffering from achy joints, underwater therapy can be tailored to suit their specific needs. This is a fun and interactive way to get your pet moving and feeling great again.
Class IV Laser therapy is the painless use of light energy to generate a photochemical response in damaged or dysfunctional tissue. These treatments can alleviate pain, reduce inflammation and accelerate recovery from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. Laser therapy is non-invasive, fast, comfortable and effective. Consider this treatment in the management of muscle and tendon injuries, osteoarthritis, back pain and skin lesions.
Massage can be used for our furry friends to decrease anxiety and promote relaxation during their rehabilitation sessions. Massage is also an effective and interactive method to alleviate discomfort through the release of endorphins and by increasing blood and lymphatic flow. This technique can be used to prevent abnormal mobility by reducing scar formation and tissue adhesion.
Stretching is the foundation of all rehabilitation and fitness programs. Following injury or normal aging, muscles become tight and joint range of motion can become compromised. As a result of these changes, your furry friend will become more susceptible to injury and pain. Controlled and appropriate stretching promotes increased flexibility and comfort during physical activity, as well as decreased risk of future injury.
Swimming can be an excellent exercise for patients in need of weight loss, endurance training and rehabilitation advancement. It is a fun way to exercise during inclement weather or when owners can not provide adequate exercise at home. This is a great way to keep your cottage loving Labrador happy during the winter. We want your pet to enjoy themselves while working hard so we provide a wide variety of toys to keep them entertained. Pets will swim with a Blue Springs life-vest to ensure their safety during these sessions. Sessions can be self-directed once your pet is comfortable in the water, however, initial sessions are guided by a staff member to ensure a safe and happy introduction to the pool.
An ideal body condition is essential for your pet's health, including musculoskeletal function and mobility. Many studies have shown us that helping an obese pet return to their ideal weight had the same effect on reducing arthritic pain as anti-inflammatory medications. This could mean decreased medication with a higher quality of life and better mobility for your lean pet. We will design a complete wellness program for your furry friend that will help them achieve all of their fitness goals while reaching their ideal weight. In addition, we will work with your veterinarian to ensure that your pet is receiving the best diet and ideal calories for their needs.
As pets age, they are more prone to joint stiffness, muscle injury, osteoarthritis and muscle atrophy. These conditions can result in pain, decreased exercise tolerance, irritability and withdrawal from the family. We love to help make our senior pets more comfortable and happier through a combination of aquatic therapy, therapeutic exercise, massage, stretching and weight management. We will work with your veterinarian to determine the most beneficial wellness approach for your senior friend to ensure that they have a long, but most importantly, happy and comfortable life.

Painful and chronic conditions are treated most effectively by adapting a multi-modal approach: pain control, weight loss, rehabilitation and extra-dietary supplementation. We will strive to stay abreast of the most up to date recommendations for your pet's condition and we will work with your veterinarian to ensure they have the most comprehensive treatment, including various supplements. Depending on their condition, your pet's mobility may be temporarily or permanently facilitated with an assistance device, such as a wheelchair or harness. We will work with you to determine which device is best suited for your furry friend. Following this, we will perform accurate measurements to ensure optimal comfort and mobility.
